Harvesting and Canning

lanissacoker

Wow! The past couple of weeks have been a whirlwind. We've had two sets of dear friends come for a visit. It's always a blessing to enjoy the fellowship of people you love. As we enter the fall season it sparks the anticipation of many other wonderful social gatherings.

In recent days I have picked bushels and bushels of apples and pears. I must admit there have been moments I have wondered, "What in the world am I going to do with all of these?" Actually, it's an incredible gift to have such a predicament. Last week I made several jars of pear butter. Yesterday I tried my first attempt at making apple butter. To my great delight it turned out amazing! In the coming days I have several other apple recipes to try. No doubt in the coming weeks I will share several of them with you. Hopefully they will help give you ideas for dishes you can place around your holiday table. Happy harvesting!
